New Habits to Help Keep Your Bathroom Cleaner Longer

Which would you prefer Scrubbing your tub, toilet, and sink for hours every few months, or taking an extra minute to wipe down the counter? I don’t know about you, but I like clean. I definitely prefer the second option.

Creating new habits prevent mold growth, plus your bathroom will look cleaner for longer periods of time. And deep cleaning will come much easier and be less time-consuming. Think of all germs you’ll be fighting in between cleans!

Here are four habits to keep your bathroom cleaner longer:

Keep disinfectant handy

You should always, always, always keep a bottle of disinfectant spray in your bathroom. Spray it on the counter and in the sink after you wash your hands from using the toilet. Or spray the toilet seat when you’re done. It’s also a good idea to spray the door handles periodically both inside and out. After all, it is the dirtiest place in your home.

Add a spray bottle to your shower necessities

Take an empty spray bottle and fill it with water. Then add about 10 drops of tea tree oil to it. Every time you get out of the shower spray the walls, the faucet, and the shower head with it. Not only will this help prevent mold growth, but it helps prevent soap scum buildup.

Tea Tree oil and its antibacterial properties are perfect for cleaning your shower. It’s really good for cleaning everything in your bathroom but it will leave your shower walls sparkling. Your shower will look brand new. And when it comes time to do a deep cleaning it will be much easier after taking on this new cleaning habit.

Clean up your makeup mess

Ladies, makeup can be a huge source of dirty grime on bathroom counters. Not to mention annoying. Have you ever tried to scrub a liquid eyeliner stain from sink and counter? It can take some elbow grease.

Instead of leaving that liquid eyeliner or the leftover foundation that fell off your brush and on the counter, take a second and wet a bit of paper towel and clear it right off.  This will keep your counter cleaner longer. And easier to clean once it’s time to do your bathroom cleaning.

Stand away from the mirror when brushing your teeth

Have you ever looked at your bathroom mirror and noticed all the splattered toothpaste on it? It’s not uncommon for us to walk into someone’s bathroom and the first thing we notice is the toothpaste all over the mirror and the faucet. This is because people are brushing their teeth too close to the mirror.

In order to prevent this, and keep your bathroom cleaner longer, stand away from your mirror. You don’t need to be so close. And try aiming your mouth down toward the sink. This can save you a lot of time when it comes to mirror cleaning and toothpaste buildup.
