Cleaning Makeup Brushes

Ok, ladies listen up! We as women love to do our makeup, it’s in our nature. But if there’s one thing we forget to do when we’re done it’s clean our makeup brushes. Am I right? We can remember to take our makeup off at the end of the night, some nights, but we still neglect to clean our brushes. It’s one of the easiest things to do yet we simply forget. If you’re breaking out more than normal and you’re not sure why try cleaning your brushes, if it doesn’t help your skin stay clean it might just be that time of the month.

Nonetheless, cleaning your brushes is simple and quick. First get in the habit of rinsing your brushes off under water after doing your makeup. Your brushes should be dry by the next day. Doing this will help prevent buildup making for an easier deep clean.

Deep Cleaning Your Makeup Brushes

1. Rinse Underwater

Start the cleaning process by running the bristles of the brush under lukewarm water. Make sure you’re only running water over the bristles and not the stick. The dried glue can be worn down over time and cause your brush to break.

2. Gently massage in soap

Take your wet brush and gently massage it into your palm with soap or brush shampoo. If you have multiple brushes to clean set eat one aside after applying soap to it. This gives the soap a little bit of extra time to clean your brush.

3. Rinse again

Gather your brushes one by one and rinse them off under lukewarm water. Again, make sure you’re only rinsing the bristles. And then gently squeeze out the water from each brush without tugging too hard.

4. Dry

Now let your brushes dry on a flat towel overnight. They will be ready for you to use again in the morning.

Looking for a quick fix? Maybe you only need to clean your brushes every once in a while because you don’t use them that often. In this case, try using Sephora Collection Dry Clean Instant Dry Brush Spray. This is a great solvent spray for a quick fix. You can spray this on your brushes after each use. But don’t forget to do a deep cleaning when you get the chance!
