8 Ingenious Ways to Use Dawn Dish Soap
Do you already use Dawn Dish soap in your home? If you do, that’s great. Now, did you know you can use it for more than just your dishes? You didn’t? Well, now you do! You can use Dawn for a variety of household tasks that make it the number one dish soap on the market aside from saving animals.
Aside from washing your dishes, you can also use Dawn dish soap to…
Make An Ice Pack
Take a Ziploc sandwich bag and partially fill it with Dawn, close, and freeze. Dawn stays much colder than a regular ice pack and it can be re-frozen many times. This is a simple and easy fix if you’re in need of an ice pack when you don’t have one.
Unclog & Clean Toilet
Depending on what your toilet is clogged with Dawn can help unclog it. If it’s just waste and tissue pour a cup of detergent into the toilet bowl and let it sit for 20 minutes. After it’s had time to sit, pour a bucket of hot water from waist height in the toilet to clear it out.
If you have an oil-based stain such as one from lipstick, grease, butter, motor oil, cooking oil, or pen inks, apply some Dawn dish soap directly to the stain and scrub with a toothbrush. Do this until the oil is removed. Let it sit for a little bit and then throw it in the washer.
Clean The Windows
Taking an empty spray bottle filled with water add three drops of dawn and you have yourself a homemade window cleaner. Works like a charm. And it does the trick every time.
Get Rid Of Oil Spills In The Driveway
Cleaning up that mess from your car in the driveway can be a pain. Using dawn, a bucket of hot water and a scrub brush should help you get the job done easily and quickly.
Clean The Pool
This is a simple task that not too many people know you can do with Dawn. Squirt some down the middle of the pool and watch all of the dirt and grime move to the edges of the pool. This helps for an easy cleanup and leaves your pool sparkling.
Take a little bowl (big enough to put your hand in) and fill it with warm water. Then add a couple drops of Dawn and let your fingers soak downwards in the bowl. Do this for 3-5 minutes and your cuticles will be soft, clean, and ready to proceed with your nail care regimen like normal.
De-Ice The Sidewalk
According to One Good Thing, you can even use Dawn to de-ice your sidewalks. Mixing one teaspoon of Dawn, one tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and a 1/2 gallon of hot water together will help de-ice your sidewalk. This method claims to prevent them from refreezing as well. Who knew?
